Waste Incineration
Project example high-temperature corrosion
• Materials testing
• Development and qualification of corrosion-resistant coating concepts
Issue
- Combustion residues and ashes in modern waste incineration plants lead to corrosion attack on superheaters
- Heavy metals especially Cu and chlorine-rich deposits accelerate corrosion in a plant
Approach
- Development of different protective coatings, coating processes and qualification of these under conditions close to the application with high Cu and Cl content
Customer Benefit
- By developing corrosion-resistant, high-alloyed protective coatings, an economically viable alternative could be identified
- Necessary maintenance work is reduced by corrosion-resistant coatings, which saves costs
